Fleet
Management and Navigation
INOV is proud
of having been Pioneer in 1988, with the MONICAP system, of
a pilot installation of the first location system using satellite
GPS (Global Positioning System) and Satellite Communications using
INMARSAT-C.
Since then the team of engineers from INOV has been updating and
maintaining the MONICAP System for the Management of Fishing
Fleets and VMS (Vessel Monitoring System) solutions.
The MONICAP System, by definition a VMS or a FMC (Fisheries
Monitoring Centre), is presently installed in about 800 fishing
vessels that operate under the control of Portugal, Spain, France,
Ireland and Angola.
INOV has also developed products in the area of the Management of
Terrestrial Fleets (XTraN), with solutions for local, regional
and transnational applications. This competitive low cost system
uses various communications networks, such as GSM, Tetra or INMARSAT-C.
In the SCADA
(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) domain INOV supplies
the systems SEASAT and SIMORE.
From the acquired
experience one can also point out the development of a prototype
transmitter for satellite communications using INMARSAT-M, and participation
in several European R&D Projects in the domain of VTS (Vessel
Traffic Services), VTMIS (Vessel Traffic Management Information
System) or VTMS (Vessel Traffic Management System).
