Domotics and remote management

The experience of INOV in Domotics refers back to the first development units within INESC, called "PEDIP Centres", with strong knowledge in electronics engineering, control and signal processing.

Telemetering of Electrical Power Supply, Water and Gas, appears at INOV as an answer to the international movement for deregulation of the Energy sector, forcing "Utilities" to seek increases in competitiveness by the use of new electronics and information technologies.

INOV formed consortia with the most representative national companies of distribution of energy, and in accordance with their requirements and specifications, developed several products and services for modern "Utilities".

The solution for Telemetering of Electrical Power Supply from INOV includes an integrated system of Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and management of information from the several units installed in "low voltage" customers.

In this way the Utility Company, when installing a Telemetering System from INOV, expects to improve its operations at the same time that reduces operational costs, rationalises the operational means and improves image and communication with its customers.

The existing knowledge at INOV implies that the new activities are in the domain of communications using the electrical power distribution (PLC), and static metering of electrical power.

The engineers and consultants from INOV also analyse the adaptation of the information systems associated with the Telemetering platform in the information systems existing at the "utilities" company.
