CICLOPE
CICLOPE
is a surveillance system developed by a team of highly qualified
engineers and researchers, in the area of monitoring and remote
control.
Due to inherent characteristics of its equipment, CICLOPE
remotely monitors wide landscape areas resulting in a very low cost
per area rate.
With any weather conditions CICLOPE provides night and day
video surveillance, by using infrared or visible spectrum cameras.
CICLOPE was conceived for remote operation in very inhospitable
places, is provided with autonomous power supply systems and communication
equipments, and is a stand-alone independent system, usually placed
in isolated places.
Cameras and associated equipment, namely control and positioning
systems, are commonly installed in towers known as TVAD.
A common architecture for CICLOPE includes several Towers,
(TVAD) and a central interconnected Management Control Centre (CGC).
All video images captured by remote (in tower) cameras are transmitted
to the control centre that gathers all information and operates
using the software tools provided to the human operator. The CGC,
with its powerful software tools, allows the user to manipulate
and use all systems in a simple and intuitive way, using some of
the innovative and patented INOV solutions.
In order to increase the number of options of the system, CICLOPE
can also be supplied with data acquisition meteorological stations,
inside/outside facilities security surveillance systems or fire
automatic detection, all together integrated in the same information
system platform.
CICLOPE has a client/server concept and can offer, for different
users, the control and monitoring of a TVAD to a different Control
Centre, for example a Fire Department, Civil Protection Directorate
or a Police Department, which is able to actively or passively access
specific image information provided by another control centre.
With a strong positioning in the video surveillance area, INOV is
developing new system facilities and functionalities: one example
is the (currently under development) module for automatic intrusion
detection.
For the installation procedure, planning and dimensioning of the
CICLOPE system, INOV has developed and improved several geographical
planning tools that are used to simulate and test the several possible
scenarios in terms of communications equipments, placements and
surveillance coverage distances, leading to an optimisation of the
architectural solution provided.
