Telemetering

The Telemetering System is oriented to Power Utilities Companies (Electricity, Water and Gas) that seek increases in competitiveness in the use of new electronics and information technologies when facing a sector in deregulation.

First initiatives took place in 1991, showing that it is possible to communicate via "low voltage network" (PLC - Power Line Carrier). In 1998 began the project National Telemetering, that sought to develop a system of Electrical Power Telemetering for EDP (the Portuguese incumbent operator). At the same time begun a project that extended the concept of remote management of Energy to the Water and Gas fields.

The Telemetering System, innovative in several technological aspects, presents as main assets a group of functional requirements defined by the National Operators, incorporating in the system the operation and exploitation knowledge of the Portuguese companies EDP (Electricity), EPAL (Water) and GDP (Gas).
