To maintain technical excellence, INOV needs to mobilise large efforts in technical updating in generic professional or of specialised nature, as in the renewal of the technological portfolio. This forces the organisation to a constant investment in knowledge and learning to face new challenges, the accelerated technological development, to fast evolving industrial standards, to the frequent introduction of new products and short life cycles, among others.

In this context, INOV tries to create all the conditions for the "ingestion" of knowledge, through mechanisms of internal knowledge "recycling" and acquisition of new competences. On the other hand, the necessary stimulus is given to promote the curiosity and initiative attitudes to discover innovative solutions, in spite of the high degree of uncertainty of some of them when facing its real and effective application in companies.
