The project "Fiber Access System FA-1201" is one of the most prominent the projects developed in collaboration with NEC. Here INOV participated with NEC Networks and NEC Brazil in the specification, development and testing of the optical fiber access network and its management system, a flexible arrangement that supports topologies IDLC (Integrated Digital Loop Carrier) and UDLC (Universal Digital Link Carrier).

INOV was also responsible for software support for the common control unit (CCU). This software was developed using CASE (Computer-Aided Software Engineering) tools, high level SDL (Specification Description Language), SOMT (SDL Oriented Object Modelling Technique) and automatic code generation. This system has been installed in various countries, including Brazil and Malaysia.
