The main objective of the project EXPLOIT (Exploitation of an ATM Testbed for Broadband Experiments and Applications) of the programme RACE was to study and implement interworking units (IWU) linking a demonstrator for broadband ATM and other networks, particularly, the narrow-band ISDN, "Frame Relaying" networks and other broadband demonstrators. The project lasted from February 1992 to December 1995. Apart from INESC, the following European companies and institutes participated in the Project: Mikroelektronics Anwendungszentrum Hamburg, Germany; Laboratoire de Electronique, Philips, France; Jydsk Telefon, Denmark; Ascom Tech, Switzerland; Centro de Estudos de Telecomunicações, Portugal.
