SIMA™ |
The SIMA™ platform
was developed in INOV in response to the growing need of new
Telecommunications Operators to join the management and operation
information provided by various telecommunications network
systems during their operation. The SIMA management and alarming
platform communicates with various monitoring and diagnostic
equipment made by different manufacturers, providing all necessary
control data and broadcasts, in the form of alarms, the critical
information for the teams involved in system operation and
maintenance.
The SIMA platform was designed according to the following
principles:
|
- Modularity
This platform in based on an object server, operating as
a kernel. Many of the services common to all the components
are implemented by the platform and reused, allowing a fast
development of additional components.
- Scalable architecture
Each monitoring and control service is represented by a
software module that can be connected to its respective
agent (component server), depending on the requirements.
This component- based architecture allows the platform to
be used in administration and control of any device, from
small gadgets to large telecommunications systems.
- Integration with existing systems
The SIMA platform uses APIs (Application Program Interfaces)
for integration with any existing platform and management/monitoring
protocol, so that the different components of the system
can be managed via different protocols.
|
Software architecture
of the SIMA platform is subdivided into three different levels:
|
- Instrumentation Level;
- Agent Level;
- Administration level.
|
Apart
from the basic administration and communication services,
the architecture provides a dynamic container of components.
These ad hog components represent the resources to be managed
and monitored by the platform. The registry of those components
is completely dynamic, so new systems or resources can be
added or removed without stopping the platform operation.
