Project AGRO

The project AGRO, Integrated Telesurveillance and Automatic Forest Fire Detection System (Action 8.1 of the National Institute of Agricultural Research and Fishery, Ministry of Agriculture) aimed at the development, installation and operation of a remote surveillance system with automatic forest-fire alarming based on new detection technologies for visible/IR imaging and LIDAR. The system enables forest fires to be detected in the early stage with minimum human intervention. The project took advantage of the considerable INOV experience in the telesurveillance associated with several technologies that can be effectively used in the automatic forest-fire detection.
