Engineering |
INOV started
its product engineering activity in response to the need to
be capable to transform the laboratory prototypes, developed
within the framework of R&D projects, into reproducible
and merchantable products.
The activity has gained even greater importance due to the
lack of such services in Portugal, especially in the area
of electronics.
The product engineering involves several tasks that must be
combined to achieve the final objective. They can be subdivided
into the following groups:
|
| CAD for Electronics |
|
Having a several-year experience
of utilisation of the package Menthor Graphics®, INOV
united a team that is specialised in the printed circuit board
(PCB) design for projects involving electronics development
and/or integration.
Given the large number of external demands, INOV has been
providing professional service on CAD (computer assisted design)
for electronics, especially for customers who need to produce
complex circuit boards with the confidence that the work is
made with high quality.

 |
Industry Implementation |
Among other issues, the transition from a functional
prototype to a mass market product involves:
-
extensive search and choice of components/materials
that suit best the production needs in terms of costs
and functionality;
-
ability to characterise completely
the product a unity of various components (mechanic, electronics,
software) and
-
capacity to compile in-depth documentation
on product manufacturing.
|
| Based on its vast experience,
the INOV team developed all the knowledge and skills necessary
for ensuring the implementation of these activities with high
quality and at the lowest cost. |
Laboratory Tests |
| |
The European Community is constantly
increasing its requirements to the quality of products in
the European market, which compels the manufacturers to concern
more and more with meeting the rules and standards in force.
In reply to this concern, INOV developed in-house trial capacities
that range from a simple assessment of the component functionality
to a pre-certification testing.
|
| Within the scope of this
activity, INOV founded a central laboratory equipped with
the set-up necessary to carry out basic electrical and functional
tests, and with testing facilities allowing to assess the
robustness of the equipment with respect to the environmental
conditions (salt mist, temperature, humidity, etc.), electromagnetic
compatibility - EMC (conducted and radiated emission and immunity,
electrostatic discharge and voltage spikes) electrical safety. |
