INOV experience of in the
domotics area refers back to the first development units within
INESC, called "PEDIP Centres", with strong knowledge
in electronics engineering, control and signal processing.
The electricity, water and gas telemetering was developed
in INOV in response to the international movement to deregulate
the power supplying sector, forcing providers to seek for
the competitiveness increase using new information technologies
and electronics.
INOV formed consortia with the most representative national
companies of distribution of energy, and in accordance with
their requirements and specifications, developed several products
and services for modern utilities.
The solution for Electrical Power Telemetering from INOV includes
an integrated system of Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and
management of information from the several units installed
in "low-voltage" customers.
Thus installing the Telemetering System from INOV, the Provider
Company is expected to make its operation more efficient and,
at the same time, to reduce the operational costs, to rationalise
the operational means and to improve image and communication
with its customers.
The existing knowledge at INOV implies that the new activities
emerge in the domain of communications within the electrical
power distribution network and the static measurement of the
electrical power.
The engineers and consultants from INOV also analyse the adaptation
of the information systems associated with the Telemetering
platform in the information systems existing at the Provider
Company.
