The Project OPERA (Open PLC European Research Alliance) of the IST (Information Society Technologies) Programme (a part of the 6th EU Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development) started in January 2006 and lasted for 24 months. Its main objective was to define, implement and test the PLC (Power Line Communication) technology demonstrator developed in the first stage (January 2002 till December 2005)
