The project "EGNOS Navigation Terminals" is carried out within the scope of the ESA (European Space Agency) program ARTS 9 with the objective to develop and present to the end-user community a demonstrator for the commercial market-ready product.

The project under development is led by MAN Technologie AG, with the participation of ViCon Engineering GmbH and INOV. Vicon is responsible for the EGNOS receiver while INOV is in charge for the development and industrialisation of the navigation terminals for the maritime segment (Maritime Terminal Chartplotter), the terrestrial segment (Farming Terminal) and the test and diagnosis unit (System Test Terminal) for storage and analysis of the values measured by the receiver system.

Project EGNOS is about to conclude its first phase, in which the laboratory prototypes should already provide main navigation and test functions.

Within the scope of GNSS-1 (Global Navigation Satellite System), the EGNOS (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Services) system, uses data supplied by the GPS and GLONASS satellite positioning systems that, together with different correction information from terrestrial stations, yield better accuracy and integrity of the provided services.
