We started our activity in 2001, after a strategic restructuring of INESC
– Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores
in 1998. This reorganisation aimed to better respond to market challenges, creating organisations specialised in different areas of activity. There were created INOV, INESC-ID
, INESC MN
, in Lisbon, INESC TEC
, in Porto, and INESC Coimbra
INOV kept INESC’s Electronics and Telecommunications area in its structure, inheriting and reinforcing the recognition of differentiating technological competences, validated by the capacity for technological transfer. The Center for Systems and Signal Processing (CSPS) and the Center for Mobile and Personal Communications (CCMP) were integrated, as well as the Department of Support to the area of Electronics and Telecommunications (DAET), responsible for administrative activities, planning and control, and the Business Development and Coordination (CDN), responsible for the definition and planning of strategic paths, development of business opportunities and marketing strategies.
This heritage allows us to differentiate by the ability to manage projects whose fundamental objective is to develop solutions with a high Technological Readiness Levels (TRLs), ready to be marketed by our partners.
