CORUJA – Intelligent Detection of Rural Fires at Night
Investment: €119,974.55
Start Date: 01/10/2025
Duration: 18 months
The CORUJA project aims to develop an innovative solution for the automatic detection of rural fires during nighttime, using Artificial Intelligence and advanced neural networks.
Building on INOV’s experience in developing the CICLOPE system and the results of the ResNetDetect project, CORUJA seeks to overcome current limitations in nighttime fire detection, increasing the accuracy of surveillance systems and reducing false alarms.
Objective
To develop and validate Artificial Intelligence algorithms capable of rapidly and reliably detecting rural fires at night, through the analysis of images captured by visible-light cameras.
Impact
The project will contribute to a faster and more effective response to rural fires, improving surveillance capabilities, optimising human resources, and reducing the environmental and socioeconomic impacts of fires.
The results may be integrated into the CICLOPE system, developed by INOV and currently used in Portugal, Greece, and Italy.
