Next Saturday, 29th June, the President of the Jury, Prof. Isabel Ribeiro, will take to the stage at the closing session of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Days (JEEC) of the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) to hand out the diplomas for the 2023 edition of the Luís Vidigal Award.
The event will once again be held at the Técnico Innovation Center, located in Arco do Cego, a space that has established itself as a hub for innovation and engineering.
This year, the Luís Vidigal Award will be awarded ex-aqueous to two different works, reflecting the excellence and diversity of the research carried out. The winners are:
- Inês Alves Ferreira, Master in Electrical and Computer Engineering, for her work entitled “Parallelisation of the Kaczmarz Algorithm“.
- Pedro Gonçalo da Silva Faria, Master in Electronic Engineering, for his work entitled “Scalable Coil Sensors Readout for Eddy Current Testing Array Probes“.
After receiving their diplomas, both winners will have the opportunity to present their theses, sharing with the public the details and implications of their research.
The Luís Vidigal Award, created in 2000 in honor of the esteemed professor, aims to annually reward IST master thesis authors who bring together the best scientific characteristics, innovation and quality in topics within the scientific areas of Electrical, Computer and Information Technology Engineering.
Fernando Moreira, President of INOV, is still a member of the Award’s Management Committee, along with Professor Luís Miguel Silveira, from IST’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
To date, 23 editions have been held, honoring 32 out of 275 candidates with a total of 100,000 euros.
This event not only celebrates the memory of Prof Luís Vidigal but also encourages the continuous search for excellence and innovation among future engineers.
